COMPACT VACUUM CONSOLIDATION
Compact Vacuum Consolidation (CVC) registered by P.V.C. Co. Ltd. (former by Maruyama Industry Co., Ltd, Japan) is a soft ground improvement method for the soft cohesive soil by using the application of vacuum pressure to speed up the consolidation settlement without a large disturbing to surrounding area like embankment preloading method.
In 1960, vacuum consolidation method was firstly introduced in Japan but it was not popularly used due to many problems such as imperfection of airtight condition, low vacuum pressure, high operation cost due to long vacuum operation period, drain clogging. Since 1988, MIC had started to develop the system for vacuum consolidation to overcome those problems and successfully implemented for many constructions both private and public sectors.
